Put & Take – Brass Spinning Top Game

£20.00

“Put & Take” is a simple, yet highly entertaining gambling game. It is believed to have originated in Ancient Greece, and through the ages it spread throughout Europe and became extremely popular in Great Britain, USA and Australia in the early 1900’s.

The spinning top would come in various guises, some with eight sides, others with six, and were made from various metals or wood, and even Bakelite in later times.

However, the object remained the same, each player puts an agreed equal amount into the kitty, then take turns to spin, each time the top rests, follow the instruction on the side facing upwards. You either put into the pot, or take from it, it’s really that easy.

During the first world war, soldiers would make their own spinning top from the brass in their armament stores and would normally play for cigarettes.

We have for sale a six-sided Brass version, complete with playing instructions and protective pouch.

They are handmade by a local craftsman and we can supply them in larger quantities if required, bulk discounts available on request.
